.ae WHOIS Lookup: Domain Records From the UAE
.ae is the country-code extension of the United Arab Emirates, delegated into the root zone on 1 December 1992 and governed by the regulator TDRA. Queries are answered by whois.aeda.net.ae on port 43, and in our measurement on 12 August 2026 the reply carried eleven fields. The extension has no registered RDAP endpoint, and the root zone holds no DS record for .ae either, so the zone is unsigned.
The reply we measured held no dates whatsoever: no creation, no last change, no expiry. The identity side, by contrast, was open. The registrant arrived with a contact identifier, a name and an organisation line, and the technical contact came with the same three. The registrar's identifier and name were present as well. In this extension the record answers the question of who and never takes up the question of when.
The status lines show who is able to do what. In the record we measured, deletion and updates were closed, and both codes carried the client prefix — meaning the registrar, not the registry, applied the locks and holds the authority to lift them. Why is there no creation date in an .ae record?
Because the registry does not publish the date fields. None of the eleven fields returned in our measurement on 12 August 2026 carried a date; the reply consisted of identity, registrar, status and name server lines. This is neither a query failure nor a shortcoming of the tool. Country extensions decide their own publication scope, and the .ae registry has left the calendar outside it.
Can the age of an .ae address be learned from WHOIS?
It cannot. Since the creation date is absent from the record, the reply gives you no way to work out how long an address has been in use. That is a genuine limit for anyone wanting to use seniority as evidence. What remains is identity: the registrant and technical contact lines say who is responsible for the address, and questions about the calendar are put to that party.
Does an .ae lookup show the registrant?
It does. In the record we measured, the name and organisation lines for the registrant were populated, and a technical contact block of the same shape was present. The masking practice of generic extensions does not cover country extensions, so identity stays open here. Details such as postal address, phone and email do not appear in the reply; what is open is the name, the organisation and the identifier.
What is the contact identifier in an .ae record?
It is the identifier of a contact object in the registry database. In the record we measured, both the registrant and the technical contact arrived with an identifier first and then the name and organisation lines. The identifier makes it possible to see whether one organisation reuses the same contact record across several addresses; even when a name changes, the identifier stays. Reading the reply is mostly a matter of noting which role each identifier is tied to.
Who can lift the status codes on an .ae domain?
The registrar. In the record we measured, deletion and updates were closed and both codes carried the client prefix, which says the lock was applied by the registrar and can be lifted by the registrar. Where a code carries the server prefix, the authority sits with the registry instead and the registrar can do nothing. When an operation bounces, the prefix tells you which door to knock on.
Is the .ae zone signed with DNSSEC?
It is not. In our measurement on 12 August 2026 the root zone held no DS record for .ae, so the zone is unsigned. The consequence is that even a signed .ae address cannot complete a chain of validation between the root and the name, and resolvers treat the zone as unsigned. The reply carries no DNSSEC field of its own either.
How does an available .ae name look in a lookup?
As a reply without record lines. In our measurement a name that was not registered drew no identity or status lines from the server, and the result screen marked it as available. Availability works correctly for this extension. Results that look available are cached for five minutes and registered ones for six hours, which keeps a freshly taken name from appearing free for long.
