whois.com.tr is a free WHOIS and RDAP lookup that reads a domain name's registration record live from the registry. It is run by Atak Domain, an ICANN-accredited registrar.

Who runs the site

whois.com.tr is operated by Atak Domain Bilgi Teknolojileri A.Ş., an ICANN-accredited registrar with IANA ID 1601. Domain registration, hosting and SSL certificates are sold on atakdomain.com, and when a name is unregistered the result screen links there. Lookups are free and need no account.

Where the record data comes from

Each lookup asks the registry that runs the extension at that moment: over RDAP where the registry publishes an RDAP server, otherwise over its WHOIS service on port 43. The result screen also shows the raw answer. A registered name's answer is cached for six hours and an unregistered name's for five minutes; the Refresh button skips the cache and asks the registry again.

A lookup covers one domain name, and past records are not archived. One IP address can run one lookup every 1.5 seconds. Most registries redact the registrant's name and contact details, so an empty contact line is the registry's own redaction. Only the domain's registrar can correct a wrong record.

For AI agents

Agents can run the same lookup without opening a page. The MCP server offers one read-only tool, whois_lookup, which takes a domain name and returns its parsed record. In browsers that support WebMCP, every page registers the same tool. Agent lookups count toward the same per-IP rate limit.

Privacy

Atak Domain's lookup service records each lookup with the queried name, the time, the visitor's IP address, the browser's user agent and a key that lasts as long as the browser tab. Page views are counted with Google Analytics. The language of the last page viewed is kept in a cookie named lang for up to a year. Messages sent through the feedback box, with an optional email address, are stored on the server and read by the site team. Atak Domain is the data controller.
